Aldi Launches Special 'Thank You Teacher' Flowers

Aldi has unveiled specially designed ‘Thank You Teacher' Flowers, set to go on sale across its stores from 23 June for €3.99 per bunch.

As part of the launch, the retailer also commissioned surveys for both parents and teachers in relation to the gifts they give and receive respectively at the end of the school year.

Teachers listed some of the odd gifts they have received from parents in the past, which include a school bus ornament, an eggcup, deodorant, half-used toiletries, a resealed tin of biscuits, and even a previously worn gold sequin boob tube top.

More than half of the teachers asked (65%), also admitted to re-gifting the presents from parents, and giving them to someone else.

Meanwhile, 93% of parents said they always give their child’s teacher a gift at the end of the year, even though only 24% of teachers expect them too.

Most parents admitted not wanting to break the bank when purchasing a gift, with 87%, saying they would not spend more than €20, and 32% said they have given their child’s teacher something they had already had lying around the house.

When what the ideal gift from a parent at the end of the school year would be, the majority of teachers said that it is always helpful when the parents in the class club together and purchase a gift voucher for them.

However, only 39% of parents said that they had previously given their child’s teacher money or a gift card.
