Parcel Motel's Virtual UK Address Shortlisted For World Post & Parcel Award

Nightline's Parcel Motel service, Virtual UK Address has been shortlisted for a World Post & Parcel award in the Cross-Border Growth category.

The service offered by Parcel Motel was launched in 2012 by the independent delivery firm, with the aim of overcoming the high cost of shipping purchases directly the Republic.

The service allows users to input Nightline's Belfast depot as their delivery address, which is eligible for free or reduced-rate deliveries as part of the UK.

The deliveries are then transferred to a designated local terminal within Parcel Motel’s nationwide locker network for collection.

John Tuohy, CEO of Nightline Group commented in the on the service, "By allowing shoppers to use our infrastructure to get around those surcharges, we have been able to give them access to a far greater range of products as well as cheaper, more reliable and more convenient delivery.

"It has also proven to be a boon for business, enabling vendors to capitalise on consumer demand and make sales which might otherwise have been abandoned because of the costs associated with delivery to Ireland."

Parcel Motel’s ‘UK Virtual Address’ now accounts for more than half of all items that pass through the Parcel Motel system. Last December, Parcel Motel revealed that the total volume of packages delivered to terminals had exceeded two million.

The World Post & Parcel Awards will take place in Warsaw, 15 June.
