Leading product and service providers to the retail sector were honoured at the second annual Checkout National Retail Supplier Awards, which took place 25 November, at the Radisson Blu Golden Lane, Dublin 8.
The event paid tribute to the ‘unsung heroes’ of the Irish retail sector; suppliers that are fundamental to the success of the industry, in areas such as shop equipment, packaging, merchandising, software development, cleaning, security, recruitment, third party logistics and fleet management.
The top award of the afternoon, for Retail Solution of theYear, was presented to CBE for its ‘Self-Checkout’ solution – which has helped bring self-checkout technology to the independent retail sector.
In addition, two awards were presented for excellence in store development: Maxol Mace M3 Mulhuddart won the Best New Store Build category, while SEL took the prize for Best Store Redesign for its work on Brett’s Centra in Kildare. SEL also won Best Shop Equipment Supplier (Food & Beverage)
A crowd of top-level executives from across the industry was present for the gala awards lunch, which saw awards presented in 13 categories. Attendees also enjoyed music by Ikarumba, and had the chance to go home with one of two premium gift baskets from Fresh: The Good Food Market.
Commenting on the event, Jenny Whelan, editor of Checkout said, “The National Retail Supplier Awards are a chance to reward the best in third party suppliers to Ireland’s world class retail industry.
