Revenue Seizes €18,000 Worth Of Contraband Cigarettes

On Tuesday, 16 August, Revenue officers seized over €18,000 worth of contraband goods following the search of a number of premises in the Dublin area.

A total of 23,420 contraband cigarettes were seized of brands including Mayfair, Dorchester, Marlboro Gold, MG, Winston, Route 66, Jim, and 821. 68 bottles of suspected counterfeit vodka and 6.6.kgs of illegal tobacco, as well as a car, were also seized. The combined value of the goods represented a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €14,000.

The searches were part of an operation targeting the illegal sale and distribution of contraband tobacco products in Dublin. Investigations are continuing with a view to prosecution.
