Mars Plans To Deliver 5.5bn Healthy Meals By 2025

Mars Global has announced details of its first Purpose in Action report, sharing the group's activities thus far, and its plan for the future.

It has committed to delivering 5.5 billion healthy meals to dinner tables around the world by 2025, as well as shifting its focus to a number of key areas for the group.

New Targets

The group said that the targets will focus on three key areas of progress: shared meals, opening access to better food, and increasing brand purpose.

These will work alongside the previous commitments, which were aimed at bringing healthier meals to families through the reformulation of its products, inspiring families and friends to eat and cook together, and improving sustainable farming practices to benefit both farmers and consumers.

Some of the steps the group is taking to achieve their goals is providing 800 million more servings of vegetables and a 30% increase of fibre in all Mars Food products, alongside a 5% reduction of sodium by 2025; creating a digital platform aimed at providing mealtime inspiration; and to donate 2% of profits through the Tasty Bite Foundation to accelerate sustainable rural development by empowering farmers in India.

Commitments

Fiona Dawson, global president of Mars Food, multisales and global customers said the group's future commitments "guides our actions, because we know that what we eat, where that food comes from and who we share it with are important."

Included in the report is the group's activities over the previous five years, including exceeding its target to deliver one billion more healthy meals; developing sustainable rice practices; making an industry-first commitment to source 100% of its rice from farmers working towards those practices; and partnering with global packaging supplier Amcor, to launch the first recyclable microwavable rice pouch.

The group hopes its 2025 Purpose Commitments will continue the group's success.
