Lidl 'On Track' To Secure €11m Investment In Clonshaugh Store

Lidl Ireland said it is on track to secure a significant €11 million investment in a brand-new store in Clonshaugh, Dublin 17.

Once agreed the new development will create 35 new jobs and support 80 more local construction jobs through the development phase, the discounter said.

The retailer said it has received a notification of the decision to grant permission for the proposed development on Clonshaugh Road, Coolock.

Proposed Plans

The proposed plans boast impressive sustainability elements including photovoltaic panels and two electric vehicle charging points for shoppers to avail of, as well as a superior shopping experience with a spacious interior layout, high ceilings and wide aisles.

“We have had a long-standing desire to offer a superior shopping experience in the vibrant and thriving community of Clonshaugh, and as such we are pleased with the decision to grant permission for a brand new store in the area this week.” commented Brian Smyth, Regional Property Executive for Lidl Ireland

“In these challenging times for our economy, we are eager to bring significant local investment, new jobs and market leading prices and quality to the local community.

Lidl's New Roles

In January, Lidl announced its plans to recruit 315 new employees to its Dublin-based operations this year, in addition to the 35 roles as part of the Clonshaugh application.

These new jobs are planned to support a variety of operational roles across its existing 30 stores in the county, which forms part of an overall commitment of 1,200 new roles in Ireland this year.

"Our team are looking forward to facilitating open lines of communication with the local residents to keep them informed of progress of the new store,” Smyth added.

Lidl Ireland employs 5,000 employees in its 168 stores, Head Office in Tallaght and three distribution centres and regional offices based in Charleville, Mullingar and Newbridge.
