The Ryan family, owners of the Beggars Bush pub on Haddington Road, Dublin, have gone into the whiskey market. The pub has launched the limited release Jack Ryan ‘Beggars Bush’ 12-year-old Single Malt Irish whiskey in collaboration with the Teeling Whiskey Company.
The whiskey recreates the flavour of ‘Ryan’s Malt’, which the family produced with Dublin Whiskey Distillery until it closed in 1946. Only 1450 bottles of Jack Ryan ‘Beggars Bush’ Single Malt, and 250 bottles of the Cask Strength Single Malt, have been produced.
“The Ryan family are proud of our long standing association with the area and pub trade, and see the release of this special Single Malt as a fitting way to honour all who have been associated with this great local institution,” explained family spokesman Eunan Ryan. “In particular it is to honour my father, Jack Ryan, who dedicated his life to the business until his untimely death 36 years ago.”
