Bord Bia To Host Ireland’s Largest Ever Food Buyer Event

The Irish Food Board, Bord Bia, is set to host Marketplace 2015 from this Sunday March 22nd to next Saturday March 28th in conjunction with the Irish food and drink industry.

The business development event aims to establish new trade relationships with retailers, food service buyers, ingredient buyers and distributors from around the world.

Marketplace 2015 will be the largest international food buyer event ever hosted in Ireland, with over 400 food and drink trade buyers from 30 countries travelling to Dublin to establish relationships with Irish food and drink producers.

Industry figures will come from as far as Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan and South Africa, among many other countries.

Speaking in advance of Marketplace 2015 Bord Bia Chief Executive Aidan Cotter said “this is the largest business development event for the food and drink industry hosted by Bord Bia in Ireland. It represents a huge opportunity to showcase the breadth, depth and capabilities that has enabled the industry to build a €10.5 billion export platform and reach out to 175 markets around the world.”

The event will also include the visiting of over 215 international buyers with Bord Bia on 11 targeted itineraries which include visits to farms, factories, retail stores and manufacturing stores around the country in locations such as Kilmore Quay, Tyrrellspass, Killybegs and Tullamore.

This Thursday (March 26th), all of the overseas buyers (400 in total) will also join 140 Irish food and drink buyers to gather at the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) for a major one-to-one business development event.

Following feedback from previous Marketplace events, Bord Bia developed a comprehensive training programme for companies to ensure they were adequately prepared for this year’s showcase. Through a series of training workshops Irish companies were able to avail of advice on choosing export markets, logistics, and sales pitch techniques.
