Britvic Sees Return to Growth in Ireland

Soft drinks company Britvic says its Irish business returned to profit in its full-year trading ending 27 September.

Volume rose by 2.6 per cent for the makers of MiWadi, Ballygowan, Fruit Shoot and Club, leading to a revenue increase of 1.3 per cent. Average price was down one per cent, however.

According to the Irish Times, the group has seen a slowdown in performance in the latter stages of 2015 and early 2016 trade, as poor weather hits sales. However, it is still predicting to grow in 2016.

Speaking about the results, Britvic's chief executive Simon Litherland said: “The market remained subdued and deflationary; however, we gained market share, testament to the strength of our brands in Ireland.”

The group predicts pre-tax earnings in 2016 to be in the range of €254 to €268 million.
