Coca-Cola HBC Launches Youth Employment Programme

Coca-Cola has today launched a new youth programme, to provide training to unemployed people across Ireland and Northern Ireland.

In its first year the bottling company is planning to help 400 young people to 'to get on a pathway to meaningful employment.'

It outlined that it is aiming to help remove the barriers that exist for young people between the ages of 18 and 30 who have left the formal education system but who have been unable to secure or retain employment.

"As a leading employer across Ireland and Northern Ireland, we have a responsibility to ensure that the society in which we operate is sustainable and prosperous for all," Matthieu Seguin, Managing Director, Coca-Cola HBC Ireland and Northern Ireland said.

"Young people suffered more than most during the recent recession with a lack of employment opportunities leaving them drifting for a number of years."

The programme will be delivered in partnership with Fastrack to IT (FIT) and is designed for young people aged between 18 and 30, 'who have left the formal education system but who have been unable to secure or retain employment'.

Coca-Cola HBC employees will also provide hours of mentoring and support to the young trainees.
