Excise tax on alcohol has remained unchanged and a packet of cigarettes has increased by 50 cents, it was announced today in Budget 2019.

"I am increasing excise duty on a pack of 20 cigarettes by 50 cents, with a pro-rata increase on other tobacco products," Paschal Donohoe, TD, Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform said in his budget delivery.

“This will bring the price of cigarettes in the most popular price category to €12.70.”
