Food & Non-Alcoholic Drinks Prices Fall 2.2% On Annual Basis: CSO

Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages fell -2.2% due to lower prices across a range of products on an annual basis, research showed.

According to the new figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) which were published today, prices of items such as meat, vegetables, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate & confectionery and bread & cereals decreased compared with September 2017.

Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco showed an increase of +3.2% compared to September last year.

Overall, Prices on average, as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), were 0.9% higher in September compared with last year.

Other significant monthly price changes were decreases in Transport which fell by -2.5%, while Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas & Other Fuels went up by +0.5%.
