Along with the surge in applications for the Youth Citizenship Awards, Foróige has opened 154 new clubs in the past two years and the awards have gone from 30 entries in 2014 to 160 entries in 2016.

Seán Campbell, CEO of Foróige said “This is the third year that we have had Aldi on board for our Youth Citizenship Awards. We are delighted that a company which is part of so many communities nationally, is once again aligning itself with us and the work that we do around the country in our 600 clubs and 150 projects. These awards empower young people around Ireland to make positive change in the world. It is so inspiring to see what young people can achieve when they work together and put their minds to something.”

Finbar McCarthy, Group Buying Director at Aldi Ireland said today, “Foróige is an organisation rooted in local community that has touched the lives of many young people across the country. Since the announcement of Aldi’s partnership in 2014 it has been a great honor to be part of the Foróige Youth Citizenship Awards, working with Foróige to deliver an exciting and engaging day for all attendees. Every year we’ve also hosted the National Junior baking competition in association with Foróige and have been delighted to enable young people grow their skill set and engage their interests. As a long term partner, with our 128 stores nationwide, we will continue to look at ways we can support this very worthwhile organisation at a national and regional level.”
