Sweet Potato Has 'The Whole Package', Says Special Fruit

Sweet potato is unquestionably one of the ‘in’ vegetables at the moment, with significant potential to become a popular convenience product, capable of a high turnover.

The sweet potato boasts a unique taste, several health benefits, a long shelf life, and diversity in terms of cooking – it can be baked, grilled, fried, mashed, barbecued or eaten raw.

International food company Special Fruit says that consumption of the vegetable has tripled in the last five years, adding that it sees an increasing need for consumer packaging featuring more product information and recipes. Special Fruit has launched attractive new high-quality packaging with a range of advantages, including 500g details labelled on top, medium-sized potatoes, and ten punnets (three pieces) in each box (60x40x10).

Meanwhile, the company has included attractive and relevant information for consumers on the package, including preparation tips and recipes, as well as health benefits.

Special Fruit sweet potatoes are also available year round. Depending on your preference, sweet potatoes can be prepared with or without their skin. They go well in various soups, tagines, purées or gratin.

You can create an original vegetable snack with raw slices of sweet potato and a yoghurt-based dip. Sweet potato also goes well in a stew of lamb, onion, tomato and zucchini. Complete the dish with pepper, salt and spring onion.
