FSAI Serve Eight Closure Orders on Food Businesses In August

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) served seven Closure Orders on businesses in August for breaches in food safety legislation. The closures included Cork’s Tasty Bite, Galway’s Abbey Tavern and the Louth-based Fuchsia House & Gables Bar.

The remaining Closure Orders were served on Akash Restaurant and Juno’s Café Deli (both in Dublin), as well as two Mayo-based pubs: T.J. O’Toole and The Larches Bar. Whilst these pubs will not close altogether, restrictions have been placed on their kitchens.

In addition, a Prohibition Order was served on Murphy's SuperValu, College View in Dublin.

Commenting on the latest Enforcement Orders, Prof. Alan Reilly, Chief Executive, FSAI, stated, “The legal onus is on food businesses to act responsibly and ensure that the food they serve and sell is safe to eat. There is absolutely no excuse for putting consumers’ health at risk through negligent practices.

"We are urging businesses to take full advantage of the information and support provided by the inspectorate and the FSAI to ensure that they have the correct food safety management systems in place.”
