GlaxoSmithKline Announces New Consumer Healthcare Ireland Business

GlaxoSmithKline has announced the launch of its new-look Consumer Healthcare business in Ireland, following a joint venture between GSK and Novartis OTC.

Combining the businesses has brought together a unique portfolio of brands including oral care like Sensodyne, Aquafresh and Corsodyl, as well as household health staples like Panadol and Savlon.

The partnership also sees GSK become the world’s largest manufacturer of over-the-counter respiratory and pain relief, with over €8 billion in sales.

Leading GSK Consumer Healthcare Ireland as its Country Manager will be Dave Barrett, who has been with GSK for over 26 years and has held a variety of field sales and pharmacy channel roles across both the UK and Ireland.

Barrett commented on the new business in Ireland, “We have a great opportunity with our expanded portfolio to provide even greater benefit to our customers and consumers.”

He added that GSK would continue to combine its strengths in science and innovation with its experience in the FMCG sector to create high-quality brands loved by customers.

“We have exciting plans for our entire portfolio and believe that we have all the key ingredients we need – healthy supply, strong investment and superb talent – to drive business growth for our customers, the categories and our brands.”

Joining the new Irish leadership team is Keith O’Toole as Channel Controller for Ireland; Steven Campbell as Field Sales Controller; Tony Quinn as both Revenue Strategy and Pharmacy Wholesale Controller, and Maria McClafferty as Marketing Manager.

The new business will also form part of a new Northern Europe region led by Carlton Lawson, who was previously General Manager Consumer Healthcare Great Britain and Ireland.
