Greater UK Exports Fell By 2% In June, Food Exports Continue To Grow

Exports to Great Britain decreased by €20 million to €1.2 billion in June 2018, a 2% drop when compared with June 2017.

These are the latest reports from the CSO, which also show that exports for the first half of the year to Ireland's biggest market fell by 7% to €6.7 billion when compared with the same period last year.

Coming the other direction, imports from Great Britain increased by 4% year-to-year to €1.4 billion in June.

Food & Livestock

The exports of Food and Live animals to the UK, however, rose by 3% in June compared to the same period last year.

Exports of Food and Live animals to the UK for the first half of 2018 rose by 3.5% year-to-year.

Major reported decreases to the UK were largely due to a decrease in exports of Chemicals and related products with a smaller decrease in exports of Machinery and transport equipment.

Overall, the exports of Food and live animals fell by 7.9% year-to-year for the month of June and fell 1.9% year-to-year for the first half of 2018.
