Guinness Collaborates For 'The First Time' With Another Beer Brewer

Guinness today announced that it has collaborated for 'the first time in Guinness’ long history' with another beer brewer US Two Roads Brewing Company.

It outlined that the two new beers ‘The Open Road’ and ‘May The Road Rise’ were brewed at The Open Gate Brewery, Dublin, and The Two Roads Brewery, US, respectively with 'the same theme and brewing specification used for each'.

Reportedly, each brew was adapted to use local botanicals: Irish mint, gorse and moss were used in the ‘The Open Road’ beer and cedar and sassafras from the US feature in the ‘May The Road Rise’ beer.

Speaking about the collaboration, head brewer at Guinness, Peter Simpson said: “Guinness has had a friendship with The Two Road Brewing Co. for a while now. A few of our brewers previously visited the US brewery and our shared passion led us to start talking about the possibility of a collaboration beer.

"We had no experience of brewing collaborations before this, but both Guinness and the Two Roads Brewing Co. foster a similar beer philosophy and are famous for beer quality - producing beers with balance and great flavour”. Simpson added.
