Monthly factory gate prices increased by 0.8% in May 2018, while the annual percentage change showed a decrease of 3.3%.
The latest figures from the CSO show that, in the year, there was a decrease of 3.5% in the price index for export sales and a decrease of 1.6% in respect of the price index for home sales.
Food products saw its prices fall by 6.2% for the year. Price increases were seen in fish, 4.6%, fruit and vegetable, 3.7%, dairy products, 1.8%.
These increases were offset by decreases in meat, down 3.7% and vegetable and animal oils and fats, which fell by 6.2%.
Grain milling, starches and animal feed saw a massive decrease compared to last year, as its price index fell by 22.5%.
Beverages fell by 8.2% for the year and experienced flat growth for the month.
In the transportable goods industry, Food Products, Beverages and Tobacco Products fell by 6.4% for the year and fell 1% for the month.
