The Irish Whiskey Association (IWA) has congratulated Dublin Liberties Distillery on becoming the 22nd operational Irish whiskey distillery on the island of Ireland.
Dublin’s Liberties announced yesterday that it has officially commenced whiskey distillation and opened the doors of its distillery visitor centre.
“We are delighted to see Dublin Liberties Distillery this week commence production of Irish whiskey,” head of the IWA, William Lavelle, said.
“This marks the third Irish whiskey distillery to commence production in Dublin and it is the fourth distillery visitor centre in the capital, a welcome addition to the city’s Irish whiskey tourism offering.”
Driving Growth
Lavelle added that he was happy to see the Liberties play such a central role in Ireland’s whiskey production as it has “a long and proud heritage in whiskey production”.
“Last year we saw 923,000 tourists visit Irish whiskey distillery visitor centres across the country. We expect this number to grow again in 2019,” he continued.
“The new Dublin Liberties Distillery will play a key role in driving this growth and educating both Irish and overseas visitors on the legendary whiskey heritage of the Liberties and Dublin 8.”
