Jameson And Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard See Double Digit Growth

Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard published its financial results for the year ending 30 June 2016, with positive news for sales of its prestige brands and Jameson Irish Whiskey particularly.

The brand reached its 27th consecutive year of growth, with volume growth of 12% for the year, and value growth of 16%. In 62 markets, Jameson experienced double- and triple-digit growth with sales of 5.7m cases.

Irish Distillers’ prestige whiskey brands (Redbreast, Green Spot, Midleton Very Rare) saw growth of 24%, being exported to 22 markets.

In the Irish market, the distiller posted 3% growth in value terms, with its portfolio of whiskeys claiming a market share of 83%. Jameson grew by 8% in value terms, and Redbreast grew by 34%, albeit from a smaller base.

Commenting on the performance of Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard, Jean-Christophe Coutures, Chairman and CEO said: “We have seen the global Irish whiskey renaissance continue with gusto, led by the category defining Jameson which is seeing double- and triple-digit growth in over 60 markets across the world.

“We aim to continue this growth with our new series of premium whiskeys such as The Whiskey Makers Series and our Deconstructed Series which have the original Jameson Irish Whiskey at their core. Our prestige brands continue to grow very impressively and are now exported to 22 markets.”

As well as whiskey sales, visits to Irish Distillers’ brand homes grew by 4% to 421,000 total visits, with 296,000 visits to the Old Jameson Distillery in Dublin and 125,000 visits to the Jameson Experience Midleton, Co Cork.

“We are also looking forward to bringing something new to our Bow Street home with the €11 million investment in our Old Jameson Distillery, which closes for renovation works today [1 September 2016] following a particularly impressive year with almost 300,000 visitors,” Jean-Christophe Coutures said.
