Keogh's Farm Reveals 22% Of Irish Workers Eating Lunch Indoors

A new survey by Keogh’s Farm has revealed that 22% of Irish workers eat lunch at their desk during the week, while 1 in 4 spend less than an hour outdoors every day.

Even though Irish workers spend so much time indoors, 97% say admit they would love to spend more time outside. Most respondents said that their outdoor location of choice would be near a body of water (42%), followed by time spent in their own back garden (25%).

For most respondents (44%), getting exercise was the most popular activity listed, while picnicking was the favourite for 22%.

Ireland’s most popular picnic destinations include Phoenix Park, Dublin (12%),  Glendalough, Co. Wicklow (11%) and Fota Island, Co. Cork (8%).

Keogh’s also found that when it comes to packing a picnic basket, 97% of those surveyed say that crisps are an key part of the outdoor eating experience and that in general, delicious food (56%), great company (28%) and a scenic location (16%) are the essential picnic ingredients.

Commenting on the survey results, Tom Keogh of Keogh’s Farm, said, "Much of my working life has been spent outdoors on the farm so it’s hard to imagine spending all my lunch breaks cooped up at a desk, but unfortunately this is the reality for many people.

"The weather can sometimes be off-putting, but with the summer sun now shining, the Irish public should make the most of it by taking their lunch to a local park or eating dinner in the back garden."

He added that the Keogh’s Farm crisp multipacks, coming in Atlantic Sea Salt & Irish Cider Vinegar, Dubliner Irish Cheese & Onion and Farm Favourites variants, are ideal for picnics, as a lightweight, easy-to-carry and shareable snack.
