Did you know?... British department store group Debenhams is in talks with lenders and looking to bring in new sources of funding as it battles for survival following another plunge in sales. The group said on Thursday sales fell 6.2% at its main British business in the 18 weeks to 5 January, and by 3.6% over the six-week Christmas trading period. Once the country's biggest department store chain, Debenhams has reported a string of profit warnings as it failed to keep pace with consumers moving online and to cheaper outlets.

Did you know?... The Japanese government announced that it will lift a ban on beef from the UK, which was put in place in 1996 after an outbreak of bovine spongiform encephalopathy three years earlier. The ban will remain in place for animals older than 30 months. The move coincided with the Japanese Prime Minister’s visit to London on 10 January.

Did you know?... Nestlé Cereals announced a new advertising partnership with ITV weekday mornings show, Lorraine, hosted by the queen of breakfast TV, Lorraine Kelly. The 12-month campaign will reach Lorraine’s 1.6 million viewers every day, keeping the UK’s most-loved cereals top of mind among families. The deal will see Nestlé Cereals receive a total of 50 seconds of accreditation every day, Monday to Friday.

Did you know?... Oscar Mayer will debut as a 2019 sponsor of the No. 6 Oscar Mayer Ford Mustang at the historic Daytona 500 on February 17, with driver Ryan Newman and Roush Fenway Racing. The race will mark Newman’s Roush Fenway debut behind the wheel of the Oscar Mayer No. 6 Ford, and with NASCAR’s winningest owner Jack Roush, a two-time winner of the Great American Race (2009, 2012).

Did you know?... Distilled spirits sales have not been negatively impacted in the three US states that have legalised recreational cannabis the longest, according to a new study by the Distilled Spirits Council. It revealed that since recreational cannabis was legalised, spirits sales grew in Colorado by 7.6%, in Washington state by 5.4% and in Oregon by 3.6%.
