Did you know?... The EU produced more than 41 billion litres of beer, produced from malt, in 2017. This is an increase of 2.5 billion litres from the previous year. The statistics were released by the European Commission as part of World Beer Day. Germany was found to be the top producer at 8.1 billion litres – meaning one in every five beers produced in the EU came from Germany.

Did you know?... Ardagh Group has announced that it has recently completed the conversion of its Rugby (UK) beverage can manufacturing plant from steel to aluminium. The conversion of the Rugby plant has further enhanced Ardagh’s manufacturing footprint, according to Ardagh Metal Beverage CEO, Oliver Graham.

Did you know?... Ronald Kers, the recently appointed CEO of 2-Sisters Food Group, has announced a transformation plan for the company that will see it merge some poultry operations in order to streamline its operations and improve its profitability.

Did you know?... Glanbia is set to increase the funds allocated to its recently-announced Extended Credit Scheme. Total funds available now sits at €30 million, and it has also broadened the eligibility criteria to include fodder catch crops and beef and sheep enterprises. The Credit scheme offers qualified members interest-free deferred payment terms for the purchase of inputs from the group.

Did you know?... Heineken USA's chief marketing officer Jonnie Cahill has said that the company will continue to focus on beer, despite the current craze of beer makers investing in cannabis and making THC-infused beverages. The group has a 50% stake in Lagunitas, which in June launched its first cannabis-infused drink, HiFi Hops - an alcohol-free beer with the high-flying effects of THC.

Did you know?... Olive Ridley Brewing Co, based in Hong Kong, has launched three new beers and pledged part of the profits to a charity foundation dedicated to protecting and preserving the Olive Ridley sea turtle, one of the smallest species of turtles, and is typically found in Indian and Pacific Oceans. The turtles are at risk of becoming endangered as a result of the destruction of their nesting sites. Nineteen restaurants, bars and liquor stores in Hong Kong have joined hands with the brewing company to sell the beers.
