Did you know … Aldi has become the first supermarket in Ireland to stock Dexter beef, as part of its fresh meat Specialbuys? The Dexter breed is a native Irish cattle breed first documented in the 1830’s, descending from the mountain cattle of Southern Ireland.

Did you know … The Food Standard’s Agency in the UK has issued a warning to consumers to pack raw meat and ready-to-eat foods in separate bags to avoid food poisoning? According to Mirror.co.uk. The warning comes as more British supermarkets move away from plastic bags to ‘bags for life’, which can pose the risk of contamination.

Did you know … Revenue officers at Dublin Airport recently seized more than 19,800 cigarettes when they stopped and searched a man and woman, both in their 20s, who had arrived on a flight from Munich? The combined value of the cigarettes, branded ‘Marlboro’ and ‘Kent’, is €10,900, representing a loss to the Exchequer of €8,800.
