Mackle Pet Food Launches New Range In Over 1,400 Sainsbury's Stores

The County Armagh-based Mackle Pet Foods is launching its new 'Naturo' pet food range in over 1,400 Sainsbury’s stores in the UK, which doubles its current store distribution.

The Northern Irish business has been making pet foods from natural sources for over 45 years, selling their products to markets in the UK and Ireland, Europe, Dubai and Iran.

Their newly-launched range includes ‘Naturo Grain Free’ trays 400g variety 6-pack, ‘Naturo Grain & Gluten Free’ cans 390g variety 6-packs, and the sales of its ‘Naturo Grain Free Chicken & Potato with Vegetables’ 400g trays.

The grain free trays and grain and gluten free cans contain natural, grain-free ingredients which help dogs who have problems with their digestive systems, stomach problems or who require additional vitamin and mineral support through their diet, the company said.

Sainsbury’s is the first UK retailer to stock Naturo’s grain free wet cat food range in 400 of its stores. The range contains four varieties of mousse, with 80% high quality meat and added taurine for normal heart function and vision – filled with health-promoting ingredients, according to the company.

Natural Sources

Natura was created by Mackle Pet Foods over seven years ago, is made with 100% natural ingredients, with 60% of the meat locally sourced and fully traceable. The range contains no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives, according to the company.

Last year, the company invested over £3 million into its Naturo manufacturing facility in Moy, Co. Tyrone, enabling it to more than double production.

The company is known for brands such as ‘Brandy’ pet food and ‘Cat Club’ and employs over 200 staff locally across its Co. Tyrone sites in Moy and Moygashel.

“The launch of the two new product lines means that natural pet food is more accessible for pet owners, who are looking to purchase healthy pet food from the supermarket at the same time as shopping for their family,” said Claire McNally, marketing manager for Naturo.

“We recognise and have responded to the demand for high quality, grain free products by consumers, with the two new ranges of grain free, and grain and gluten free, both of which are ideal for dogs with digestive and health issues,” McNally added. “By increasing the Naturo Grain Free Chicken & Potato with vegetables product to 1,000 stores, Sainsbury’s is clearly responding to pet owners who are looking for more natural food choices for pets.”
