CSO Releases July Retail Sales Statistics

The Central Statistics Office has published information on retail sales for July 2016 (provisional) and June 2016 (final).

According to the data, the volume of retail sales (excluding Motor Trades & Bars) decreased by 0.4% from June to July, and there was an increase of 2.7% in the annual figure.

Food, Beverages & Tobacco saw a 0.9% decrease in volume from June to July, with Clothing, Footwear & Textiles also decreasing by 2.5%, Pharmaceuticals, Medical & Cosmetic Articles decreasing by 0.6%, and Books, Newspapers & Stationery increasing by 2%.

The value of retail sales (excluding Motor Trades & Bars) dropped also by 0.3% from June to July, but there was an increase of 0.9% in the annual figure.

Food, Beverages & Tobacco decreased 1% in value from June to July, while Clothing, Footwear & Textiles decreased by 2.1%, Pharmaceuticals, Medical & Cosmetic Articles decreased by 0.3%, and Books, Newspapers & Stationery saw an increase of 1.6%.
