Did You Know… Kilmeaden is launching a new marketing campaign with the tagline, “Well, at least the cheese is maturing nicely” to celebrate its 50th anniversary? Gráinne Murray, Brand Manager at Glanbia Consumer Foods, commented, “Kilmeaden has stood the test of time as being one of Ireland’s best loved brands and number one mature cheddar block and we intend for that to continue for many years to come.”

Did You Know… EasyFoodstore, the newly-opened 25p budget shop, was forced to close its doors after customers cleared its shelves of stock? Independent.ie reports that the store, operated by EasyJet founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, put a notice on its website saying that suppliers were unable to meet the high demand and so the shop had to close its doors until Friday.

Did You Know… Market research firm Technavio predicts a strong year for the European sweetener industry? FoodNavigator.com reports that the company expects the end of EU sugar quotas to create a ‘mega boom’ of sugar production, while the increasingly health-conscious consumer-base will demand more low-sugar and sugar-free sweeteners.
