Food Safety Authority Launches Its 2018 Strategy

The Food Safety Authority Ireland (FSAI) has published its strategy for 2016 to 2018, setting out its core vision and goals for the next two years.

The strategy centres on raising standards and ensuring safe food for all consumers. It contains five key strategic goals for the organisation. Collaboration, both local and international, is given primary attention, as well as developing an ethos of integrity and making use of scientific and technological expertise for informing policy and decision-making.

Global recognition is also important in the new strategy, with Ireland envisioned as a leader in food safety and integrity. Also marked out are issues of accountability and transparency, as well the need for taking a digital-first approach toward data analysis and consumer protection.

Prof. Michael Gibney, Chairman of the FSAI commented that the organisation continues to place the consumer at the centre of all its activities, "Our new strategy sets out a clearly defined vision, mission, values and strategic goals that will guide the organisation into 2018 and sets a new strategic platform for the future. I look forward to, along with my fellow Board members, supporting the CEO and FSAI staff on its new strategy for the coming years."
