Two Fifths Take Food And Beverage Options Into Consideration When Choosing Shopping Centres

New research from CBRE has found that almost two-fifths of those surveyed (37%) said that food and beverage is 'very important' or 'extremely important' when they are deciding which shopping centre they will visit.

35% of respondents to the study, Food & Beverage In A Shopping Centre: Is it a food lover's delight or a takeaway?, feel that there should be more food and drink options made available in the centres that they frequent, with only 6% having the opposite opinion.

Just over half of Irish shoppers (55%) rate the ‘overall experience’ of a shopping centre key when choosing where to shop, with food and beverage options being one element impacting on that experience.

One of the most striking pieces of information to come from the research is that 78% of Irish participants admit that they have had something to eat or drink in a shopping centre in the last 12 months.

Lunch is the most popular meal eaten by those who avail of food and beverage options in shopping centres, with 43% of Irish respondents saying they ate lunch during their last visit to a shopping centre. 29% said they had a light snack, 16% said they ate dinner and only 3% said they ate breakfast during their last shopping centre visit.
