Dunnes Stores is being sued by some of Ireland’s best-known shopping centres for not paying service charges, reports The Sunday Business Post. The paper understands that Dunnes Stores is yet to pay hundreds of thousands of euro in service charges in Dublin’s Ilac Centre, and has also failed to pay fees in other locations.

The chairman of the Small Firms Association, AJ Noonan, has condemned the closure of the postal service due to strike action by An Post contractors. He said that the strike needs to be immediately suspended, and that “it is entirely unacceptable for the nation to be held ransom in this way.” An efficient postal system is essential to Ireland’s 200,000 small businesses, says the SFA, with many of its members relying on the postal service to fulfil orders, as well as to send and receive invoices, statements and payments.

Bottled water company Kerry Spring has ceased trading. The business closed on Friday, as a buyer couldn’t be found, resulting in the loss of 32 jobs. While 40 buyers had expressed interest in the Ballyferriter-based firm, liquidator Myles Kirby of Ferris and Associates said that no satisfactory offer had been made by the September 23 deadline.

Manor Farm has been named as winner of the 2015 EIQA Best in Food Production for Hygiene and Food Safety award, a category in which the chicken producer has won a Q mark every year since 2012. Commenting on the honour, Vincent Carton, managing director of Manor Farm said, "We're honoured to win this important award again this year. Our aim as a chicken producer is to operate to the highest standard possible when it comes to food safety and hygiene.”

Rising Sons Brewery, a brewpub based on Cornmarket Street in Cork city, has announced plans to invest €1 million in increasing its production capacity by a third, reports The Sunday Business Post. The company currently boasts a 20-hectolitre microbrewery, but its owner plans to increase capacity to 30-hectolitres with the acquisition of a second site on Cornmarket Street.

Capital Marketing has appointed Hugh Finlay as its new Chief Executive Officer, and Nicola Kenny as Key Account Manager. Finlay brings over twenty years of experience in international advertising, having led campaigns for FMCG clients including Kellogg’s and Heineken. Kenny has holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Event Management from Dublin Business School, and has more than six years of experience in account management and business development.

M&M Walshe Holdings Ltd, which operates Callan Bacon and RibWorld, has acquired the Worcestershire-based Stirchley Bacon. The group is the largest producer of retail bacon in Ireland, with substantial sales in the UK. In a statement, the company said that the acquisition is a major move into the UK foodservice market and will also provides a substantial UK presence to help develop Callan Bacon and RibWorld in that market.
