C&C Group has announced that former Chief Executive of Independent News and Media Vincent Crowley is to join the group’s Board of Directors as a non-executive director. Crowley will be joined by Rory Macnamara, who was previously Vice Chairman of Deutsche Morgan Grenfell and a Managing Director at Lehman Brothers. Sir Brian Stewart, Chairman of C&C, commented, “We are delighted that Vincent and Rory are joining the Board of C&C. They have invaluable experience, across a range of markets and sectors, which they will bring to the Board.”
Aramark has appointed Michelle Weldon as Operations Director for its Workplace Solutions division. In her new role, Weldon will be responsible for the management of the group's facilities management contracts across Ireland. She has more than 22 years of experience in food and facilities management and previously held the position of Operations Manager in Aramark’s Workplace Solution.
Cork-based seafood processor Glenmar Shellfish has been bought by dairy co-op Lisavaird Food Group, in a deal thought to be worth nearly €10 million, according to The Sunday Times. Glenmar had gross profits of €6.9 million in 2014, and saw a turnover of almost €30 million, with three quarters coming from exports. The deal has been submitted to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission for approval.
Wine brand Hardys has won a Gold Award in the Alcoholic Drinks category at the EPICA awards, for its campaign celebrating its sponsorship of the English Cricket Team. It also took a silver medal in the film category at the Annual London International Awards for the same campaign. The awards reward creativity in marketing and communications.
The Little Milk Company, based in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, has won the Irish Exporters’ Association’s ‘Emerging Exporter Award’ for 2015 – the cheese producer’s 23rd award in three years. This year, the company grew its exports from 30% to 60% and developed new markets in the US and Middle East, reports the Irish Examiner.
The former O’Connor’s Shopping Centre on Martyr’s Road in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary has been withdrawn from auction after failing to attract any bids at the latest Allsop space sale in Dublin. The centre closed in 2011, and had a reserve of between €750,000 and €800,000 but is now open to offers.
The Teeling Whiskey Distillery has announced it will host a Christmas Craft Fair, celebrating “the excellence of Ireland’s artisan community” on Saturday, 5th December, from 11am-5pm at its recently opened distillery in Dublin’s Liberties. Eleven brands will take part, including The Oriel Sea Salt Company, Mannings, and Munroes – all of which have collaborated with the whiskey brand in recent months.
