The Checkout Conference 2020, which will take place in the InterContinental, on 4 February will include a panel discussion involving some of the most progressive and influential voices on sustainable retailing, ethical and responsible shopping and the creation of an eco-friendly supply chain.

This year’s panel will feature:

Eleanor Meade, Business Operations Manager, Meade Potato Company

Eleanor Meade is Business Operations Manager at Meade Potato Company, one of Ireland’s leading growers, packers and distributors of fresh produce to the retail and food service sectors nationwide.

The family business employs over 240 people at their farm and food production facility in Co Meath.

Recipients of numerous awards, including the Irish Quality Food Awards, Repak Pakman Award and Energia Family Food Business of the Year, the company has distinguished itself in the fresh produce sector with their innovations in the area of sustainability.

Eleanor has a background in accountancy and is also a part-time lecturer in advanced taxation with Griffith College in Dublin.

Naomi Sheridan, Owner, Noms

Naomi Sheridan opened her Noms store just over 14 months ago to offer a unique shopping experience to the local northside community of Phibsborough in Dublin.

The shop has experienced steady growth over the last few months, as more and more shoppers look to make more sustainable and ethical shopping decisions.

Noms stands for Natural, Organic, Mindful and Sustainable, the four pillars on which Noms is built on.

As climate change and plastic pollution take centre stage, Noms offers customers the opportunity to stock up their pantry without the use of any plastic packaging. Naomi spent most of her pre-Noms career working in the FMCG industry with major multi-nationals such as Mars Petcare, Heineken and General Mills.

Sian Young, Marketing Manager, Britvic Ireland

Sian is an Oxford University graduate with 19 years’ experience in FMGC marketing.

She started her career as a brand manager in Unilever, working across a variety of brands in the home and personal care portfolio and has been working at Britvic Ireland since 2006, marketing iconic Irish brands, including Miwadi and Ballygowan.

Sian has spent the last 15 months on secondment from her regular marketing manager responsibilities to focus on developing the sustainability strategy for Ballygowan and the wider Britvic Ireland portfolio.

Pat Kane, Owner, reuzi

Pat Kane is the owner of one-stop minimal waste lifestyle shop, reuzi in Foxrock, Co Dublin.

Although reuzi’s end goal is fully zero-waste living, the aim is to help everyone take one extra step towards sustainable living, whether that means helping them get their first stainless steel straw, or providing the tools and knowledge to transform their entire grocery shopping routine.

Pat was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and has a strong business background, having worked with several multi-nationals in a number of countries over the past 18 years.

She is also a sustainability activist, with a hugely engaged community, and is an expert on all things related to sustainability and green living.

Pat has spoken at corporate events for Google, Linkedin, Hubspot and Dell, and was a panellist on The Elaine Show on Virgin Media TV before Christmas. She has also been featured in The Irish Times, Sunday Times, Independent, Examiner and The Gloss.
