Coca-Cola Supports New Dublin City Recycling Initiative

Dublin City Council, environmental charity Hubbub and The Coca-Cola Foundation have joined forces to introduce a new on-street recycling initiative which will be introduced across Dublin City Centre from 31 March.

The city-wide #CircleCity campaign aims to 'build a culture of on-the-go recycling' in Dublin City Centre by bringing on-the-go recycling bins to the streets, the drinks giant explained.

The campaign will be supported and delivered on-the-ground by local partners, including Big Belly, Voice Ireland, the RPS Group and DublinTown.

Speaking at the announcement of the Dublin #CircleCity initiative, the Lord Mayor of Dublin Tom Brabazon said: “The City Council provides a wide range of recycling infrastructure throughout the city resulting in almost 17,000 tonnes of material being recycled each year."

The missing link however has been the option for the public to be able to recycle on-the-go, but now under this new initiative, the public will be able to recycle plastic bottles and aluminium cans in the city centre," he added.

Past Problem

Bin locations will be revealed with a clear call to action to members of the public to get involved and play their part in recycling effectively.

“The Coca-Cola system in Ireland is committed to making packaging waste a problem of the past," Petre Sandru, Country Manager, Coca-Cola Ireland said.

"That requires a focus on the entire packaging lifecycle – from how bottles and cans are designed and made, to how they’re recycled and repurposed."

Details on Dublin’s #CircleCity campaign will be updated through Hubbub Social Channels on Facebook and Twitter with dedicated channels unveiled ahead of the campaign launch day.
