Did you know… The new Irish Independent Park rugby stadium has been opened in Cork? Minister for Agriculture, Food, the Marine and Defence Simon Coveney has officially opened the stadium, which will have a ground capacity of 10,000. The opening took place ahead of the Munster Rugby Guinness Pro12 match against Glasgow, and follows a €3.2 million redevelopment.

Did you know… Voting is now open to the Irish public to determine the Budweiser Dream Job winner? Budweiser has revealed this year’s five Dream Job finalists for jobs which include a concert pianist, a music composer, a comedian, an actor/director, and a fashion designer. Budweiser is asking people across the country to watch the finalists’ videos on its Facebook page to determine who will win the prize fund of €50,000, along with industry guidance in order to make their dreams a reality.

Did you know… Minister for Business and Employment, Ged Nash TD has launched two regional development initiatives? The Minister has launched SHIP (SMEs and HEIs in Innovation Partnerships) to strengthen SMEs and REAL (Regional Education and Employment Alliances) to help unemployed graduates to become entrepreneurs. Both programmes are being led by the Louth Local Enterprise Office.

Did you know… A planned Lidl store in Knocknacarra could be sunk by a bypass route? According to the Connacht Tribune, the backer of a proposed €2 million Lidl supermarket has been warned by city planners that the site might be affected by the proposed ‘red’ bypass route. Florence Thomas sought planning permission for the supermarket last December, after a similar application was rejected by the Planning Appeals Board.

Did you know... CKSK won the Grand Prix at the Mobile Marketing Awards? CKSK also took home the awards for Best Mobile App and the Best Mobile Strategy, for work with Coors Light and The Great Rocky Mountain Game mobile app. Media agency OMD took more awards than anyone else, taking three gold awards for its work with the Irish Blood Transfusion Service, including Best Mobile Sales Promotion, Best Use of Innovation in Mobile and Best Use of Mobile in an Integrated Campaign.

Did you know… Fyffes has announced its sixth consecutive year of growth? The fruit distributor reported a 28.1% EBIT increase, and a 26.6% increase in Earnings Per Share in its preliminary 2014 results. Its EBIT now stands at €40.1 million, while its shares are valued at 11.17 cent. Total revenue for the group stood at €1.1 billion.

Did you know… Customs officers in Northern Ireland seized 10,000 tonnes of illicit tobacco last week? According to the Belfast Telegraph, the raw leaf tobacco was seized in raids targeting those involved in illegal tobacco smuggling. The haul was found in a vehicle at a farm in South Armagh and is worth £236,000, according to HM Revenues and Customs. In separate searches, 10,000 suspected illicit cigarettes were also seized.

Did you know… Topaz has been presented with a special 'Laureate' award at the Great Place to Work Awards, which took place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Dublin last week? The retailer was presented with the award for being named one of the Best Workplaces in Ireland for the 10th time. Paul Candon, Marketing and Corporate Services Director at Topaz said; “Ten years of success in the Best Workplace! This is a landmark achievement for a young company like Topaz and is testament to the company’s culture of constant innovation, teamwork and of course the professionalism and enthusiasm of our staff."
