Londis Toasts 60 Years In Style At Retailing Excellence Awards Event

ADM Londis toasted its 60th anniversary in style with a major event at Dublin's Doubletree by Hilton Hotel last Friday, at which its 2014 Londis Retailing Excellence Awards were presented.

Londis Adare was the big winner on the night, taking the Londis Overall Store of the Year Award, as well as the Londis Foodmarket Store of the Year Award. The award for Londis Supermarket Store of the Year went to Burke's Londis PLUS Kinvara, Co. Galway, while the award for Londis Convenience Store of the Year was presented to Londis Highway Retail, Dublin Road, Co. Monaghan.

Awards were also presented for excellence in particular grocery categories, with Gillan's Londis PLUS, Summerhill, Co. Meath winning the Fruit & Veg Store of the Year award, Timothy's Londis PLUS, Abbeytown, Co. Roscommon winning Off Licence Store of the Year, and Gillen's Londis, Dublin Road, Trim, winning Deli & Hot Food Store of the Year.

Kelly Hyland, an employee at Gillen's Londis Trim, was named Retail Employee of the Year, while Declan Kettle, Fresh Food Manager, won Group Office Support Employee of the Year.

The event also saw the culmination of the '€60,000 for 60 Years' charity campaign, with representatives from The Irish Hospice Foundation, Pieta House and Temple Street Children's University Hospital present at the event to be presented with their donations.

On top of the €60,000 already pledged by Londis, a further €20,000 was raised through national and regional radio promotions and a coffee and cupcake morning in Londis stores nationwide. This brings the total amount shared by the three charities to over €80,000.

Commenting on the presentation, ADM Londis chief executive, Stephen O’Riordan, said: “It is a privilege to stand here and present these charities with the funds raised through our network of stores. The work that these charities undertake on a daily basis impacts communities around the country in many ways.

"Community is a theme which resonates with us all and as a group of retailers we’re proud to play our part to help support our local communities to be better, more prosperous places for everyone. In presenting these cheques we hope to give something back to the communities which have supported ADM Londis retailers for the past 60 years.”
