Musgrave Group is reportedly in the running to acquire Java Republic.
The deal between the grocery and wholesale company and artisan roasted coffee and hand crafted tea maker could be worth in the region of €30 million, reports The Sunday Times.
Java Republic was founded in 1998 by David McKernan, who put the company up for sale late last year.
McKernan hired UK corporate finance company Cavendish to handle the process, reports claim.
Musgrave's brands include another coffee company Frank and Honest.
Headquartered in Cork, the group operates the Centra, Mace, Supervalu and Daybreak retail franchises.
Musgrave announced in September last year that it had agreed to acquire Donnybrook Fair Limited and its subsidiaries for an undisclosed sum.
The move was cleared by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) on the 2 November, 2018.
