Irish Employers Set To Increase Staffing Levels In Q2 2016

Irish employers expect to increase their staffing levels across most industry sectors during the second quarter of 2016, according to the latest Manpower Employment Outlook Survey.

Manpower’s research reveals that employers are reporting a seasonally adjusted Net Employment Outlook of +5% for April to June 2016, while maintaining the cautiously optimistic forecast reported for the first quarter of the year.

Surveying 620 employers from 11 different sectors, Manpower found that employers in the Restaurants & Hotels sector are forecasting the strongest year on year growth, registering an employment outlook of +12% – an increase of 28 percentage points.

While the Wholesale & Retail sectors looks set to see an increase of 4% in employment levels for the second quarter of 2016, it is interesting to note that this is in fact a decrease of 4 percentage points from the same period for last year.

Meanwhile, Electricity, Gas and Water employers report the strongest hiring intentions of +19%, and +15% is expected in the Pharmaceuticals sectors.

Cara O’Leary, Sales Director, ManpowerGroup Ireland, commented, “The results of our survey clearly show continued employer confidence in 2016. Staffing levels are forecast to grow in 10 of the 11 industry sectors surveyed; this demonstrates a sustained level of employer confidence for the second quarter of the year.”
