Lidl Set For Major Investment In Austria

Lidl is set to make a substantial investment in renovating its supermarkets in Austria.

The project, which will cost the German grocer about €100 million, will entail the revamping of 30 stores, of which 12 will be reconstructed from scratch.

These enterprises are part of a grander project to renovate all 203 supermarkets in the country, which is scheduled for completion next year. It is understood that when these goals have been reached, Lidl will consider increasing the number of Austrian outlets that it operates.

It will also open new logistic centres in Bezirk Graz-Umgebung later in 2015.

Recently, Lidl rehired one of its former managers, Kevin Love, now a Michelin-starred chef, to endorse its foodstuffs.
