Maxol recently supported the Irish University Rugby team by sponsoring the Irish team’s jerseys for their third level international rugby meeting at Oxford University RFC.
Dermot O’Toole, Head of Retail & Marketing at Maxol, commented: “At Maxol we understand the importance of sport in Irish communities. We are pleased to provide our support to the development of student rugby in Ireland and to ensure that young Irish rugby players are given the opportunities to perform to their best. Hopefully with our help, the players can fulfill their potential and achieve their highest level on the pitch."
This year’s encounter saw the Irish students draw 36-36 with their English counterparts.
O'Toole said, “Congratulations to all of the Irish team involved this month over in Oxford University, it was a wonderful occasion for third level rugby in Ireland and we hope to see many more of these special events in the near future.”
Derek McGrath, Irish Universities Rugby Union President, added: “To have international third level rugby fixtures back on the calendar is fantastic for Irish sport. It gives these talented young guys a brilliant opportunity to wear the green jersey that they may have otherwise missed out on due to their commitment to academics.
The forecourt convenience retailer has supported the Irish team now for over two decades.
“We thoroughly appreciate our relationship with Maxol and we are grateful for Maxol’s commitment to the development of Irish student rugby over the last 20 years.”
