The Checkout Best In Fresh Awards took place on Tuesday 3 July at The Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin, where over 250 of the top Irish retailers convened from around the country for the industries fresh food retailing awards.
The Best In Fresh Awards are Ireland’s leading industry awards for fresh food retailing. The awards celebrate the best retail suppliers, retail chains and also the individual stores that excel in fresh food retailing.
The Awards are open to all retail groups and independent retailers, including multiples, symbols, discounters and non-affiliated stores.
The Checkout Best In Fresh Awards reward and promote excellence in fresh food retailing in Ireland, with retailers of all sizes and formats honoured.
Among the big winners at this year’s event were Fresh The Good Food Market, Camden Street, Dublin which took the award for Excellence In Fresh Food Retailing In A Convenience Store, the Best Fresh Food Retail Chain award went to Tesco Ireland, while the Best in Fresh Lifetime Achievement Awards went to Peter Caviston of Caviston’s Food Emporium.
The award for the Freshest Food to Go offering in a Forecourt when to Maxol Ballycoolin Services, while the Best Local Champion award, sponsored by SEL - Shop Equipment Ltd, was presented to Scally’s Of Clonakilty.
“The stores that we acknowledge at the Checkout Best In Fresh Awards are world class operators when it comes to fresh food retailing,” said Checkout editor Maev Martin.
“Once again, both our winners and finalists have raised the bar when it comes to fresh produce, and have proven that they are among the best in Ireland, as well as in Europe.”
In addition, six supplier awards were presented, as voted for by the industry, with BWG National Distribution Centre, Astron Engineering, and Aryzta Food Solutions Ireland among the winners.
