Sales of Aldi Ireland's fresh food and healthy eating ranges reached record levels in 2016, which reaffirmed its position as Irelands fastest growing supermarket, according to a statement the retailer issued today (14 March).

The latest supermarket share figures from Kantar Worldpanel published today for the 12 weeks ending 26 February 2017, revealed that Aldi managed to attract an additional 20,000 customers into its stores, while also encouraging them to visit more frequently.

According to Finbar McCarthy, group buying director, "We've been the fastest growing supermarket in Ireland for most of the past ten years. In that time people have come to understand and trust our promise - the best fresh Irish food ay the lowest possible prices."

The retailer highlighted that it placed 'a particular focus' on healthy eating products, bring health food store quality to irish consumers at 'unbeatable prices' across wholefood products such as coconut oil, nuts and seeds, superfood powders and dried fruit. Last year, Aldi saw a 50% increase year-on-year across this range.

"We need to keep surprising people however and customers may not be as aware of the phenomenal range and quality we have across health food products - which might have once been the preserve of specialist store at a much higher price." McCarthy added.
