SuperValu Issues Statement Over Getawaybreaks LoyaltyBuild Breach

SuperValu has released a statement regarding the announcement yesterday that customers availing of its Getawaybreaks may have had their financial details compromised.

The statement reads, "The protection of our customers’ information is an absolute priority for us at all times and as yet there is no information to suggest that any data has been obtained." The issue is exclusive to Getawaybreaks only and does not impact Supervalu's other websites or any other customer transaction by payment card.

LoyaltyBuild, the Clare business that runs the Getawaybreak scheme, is reviewing its payment systems following a warning that it may have been breached. Approximately 38,000 SuperValu customers who booked throughout the Getawaybreaks scheme have been advised to check their accounts for unusual activity. LoyaltyBuild is working with the Data Protection Commissioner and the Getawaybreaks booking system has been temporarily suspended.
