Teeling Whiskey Plans To Double Sales To €30M By 2020

Teeling Whiskey plans to double its current sales to €30 million annually by 2020, according to the Irish Times.

The Irish Times reports that Teeling plan’s to aggressively target US and Irish Markets, as well as airport retail, with the initial batch of whiskey from its distillery.

Speaking to the Irish Times, founder and chief executive, Jack Teeling, said that the group will “aggressively go after growth opportunities now”.

“This year is a landmark one for us with out own whiskey coming of age. It’s going to be a transformational phase in our evolution.”

Teeling plans to release 6,000 Single Pot Still bottles as the first three-year-old produced at it’s Dublin city distillery.

The company sold around 850,000 bottles of whiskey last year, and Teeling told the Times that  “We expect to sell substantially more than than in 2019”.

Tours of the whiskey distillery in the Dublin Liberties alone generated up to 9 million in revenue since it’s opened its doors three years ago.

The distillery and visitor centre has attracted over 300,000 visitors since it opened its doors.

Irish whiskey is the fastest growing spirit in the market, and the sheer demand leads John Teeling to believe that there will be a shortage of it soon.

He told the Irish Times in June that there will be a scarcity of Irish whiskey within the next few years due to surging global demand, because what’s being made now “won’t be seen for seven years”.

So we will have a shortage if the rate of growth continues at a cumulative rate over the next six or seven years,” he said.
