Tesco Contract Loss May Impact 100 Jobs

A hundred jobs are in danger due to the loss of a contract with grocery giant Tesco. Donegal-based company, Rock Shopfitting Services (RSS) has expressed concerns that 50 jobs in Muff and 50 jobs in Derry will be affected by the contract loss. Tesco signed the multinational company, HYM Radfords from Paris, to complete the work instead.

RSS managing director Martin McCafferty told the Irish Independent, “We are being replaced from this Sunday. My staff and I are devastated and there doesn’t appear to be anything we can do about it.” Until now, the company worked for Tesco in both the north and south of Ireland.

Mr McCaffrey said that the company has tried to complain but that Tesco has not yet responded. According to Highland Radio Station, Mr McCaffrey has questioned the claim that HYM Radfords offered the work for a lower price, and its possible Tesco are trying to cut down administration costs by employing fewer outside contractors.
