IGBF Names Tesco Ireland CEO Kari Daniels As New President

Tesco Ireland CEO Kari Daniels has been announced as the next President of the Irish Grocers Benevolent Fund (IGBF).

Kari succeeds John Moane, managing director of the BWG Wholesale Division, who is the outgoing president of the rotating annual role.

The objective of the fund is to provide financial relief for persons in need who have been involved in these trade sectors.

“It is a great honour and privilege to now serve as President of Appeals of the Irish Grocers Benevolent Fund," said Daniels.

"The Fund has been an integral part of the Irish Retail landscape for over 30 years, providing enormous assistance to relieve hardship amongst unemployed and retired members of the retail sector and their spouses who have fallen on difficult times because of ill health or bereavement.

Wide-Reaching Benefits

A key element of the role is to impress upon people the wide-reaching benefits associated with donations to the Fund, Leonard Hegarty Chairman of the IGBF said.

"The proceeds are distributed to those in need across communities on an all-Ireland basis. This greatly helps the many people across the country that are dependent on men and women that have worked in the retail sector but who have fallen on hard times." Hegarty explained.

The IGBF currently assists nearly 250 families monthly and contributes over €560,000 annually to its worthwhile causes, the national registered charity assisting people in the retail, wholesale and supplier trade sectors said in a statement.
