Tullamore Dew Is First Irish Brand To Win Worldwide Whiskey Trophy Since 2009

Tullamore Dew has won the The Worldwide Whiskey Trophy at the International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC) for its 18-year-old single malt, which reportedly has not been won by an Irish whiskey brand since 2009.

Now in its 49th year, the annual IWSC was created by wine chemist Anton Massel and now receives entries from over 80 countries worldwide.

Four Cask Recipe

'The Tullamore D.E.W. 14 Year Old and 18 Year Old Single Malts are characterised by their rare, four cask recipe, finished in Bourbon, Oloroso Sherry, Port and Madeira casks. This innovative finish gives the malts a uniquely rich and mellow taste,' the Co.Offaly distiller explained in a statement.

“Working on the Tullamore D.E.W. 18 Year Old Single Malt was a two-year mission to craft an extraordinary whiskey that embodies the complex character, subtle sweetness and triple distilled smoothness that define the best of Irish Single Malt," said Brian Kinsman, master blender, Tullamore D.E.W.

"The quality of the aged stocks is comparable to the very best Highland single malts, but the triple distillation and our four-cask finish are what set this whiskey apart as one of the best in the world.”

Tullamore D.E.W. 18 Year Old Single Malt is a 41.3% ABV triple distilled, single malt whiskey and is available now in a limited volume release.
