UK retailer Tesco will shed a number of roles from its stores in order to ‘simplify its operational structures to improve efficiency,’ it said on Monday. The retailer is removing the role of People Manager, Compliance Manager and Customer Experience Manager, which is set to affect 1,700 staff members.

The multinational drinks company Coca Cola has joined in the Nafta debate, with CEO James Quincey urging governments around the world not start deconstructing global trade. Quincey told Bloomberg Television that free trade has been “a powerful engine for lifting all boats.”

A major British business group has urged the UK to ensure it stays in a close and comprehensive customs agreement with the EU. The Confederation of British Industry said that a customs union will be far more valuable than striking trade deals elsewhere.

After over a year of testing, the very first Amazon Go opened to the public in downtown Seattle on Monday. The cashier-less convenience store will test the e-commerce giant’s technology of letting shoppers grab their purchases and pay through a smartphone app without queuing for a cashier.

Last week’s EU strategy for reducing plastic waste has been criticised for not including concrete measures to support biodegradable plastics and limiting itself to mechanical recycling, according the lobbying group, the European Bioplastics association.
