Aramark Health and Wellness Week Launched By Alan Quinlan
Former Munster and Ireland rugby player Alan Quinlan today launched #Take15, which promotes positive mental health in the workplace, for Aramark’s Health and Wellness Week which runs from June 29th to July 4th.
According to recent research in the UK, over two-thirds of people said they can go a whole day without speaking to anyone at work other than on work-related matters. The study also found that even short conversations with colleagues can have positive effects on a person’s physical and emotional health and wellbeing.
Alan Quinlan, Aramark’s Wellness Ambassador in Ireland said, “We are urging everyone to take just 15 minutes out of their day and to use it to reconnect with colleagues while holding a #TAKE15 tea or coffee break for Aramark’s nominated charities.

"We all need to take a break during the day and social interaction is critical to our mental health. Mental health needs to become a key focus in the same way that we are now focused on diet and exercise. It’s a simple message but an important message all the same and a step that everyone can take.”

Frank Gleeson, Managing Director of Aramark’s Food Services division, said, “These days it’s so easy for people to get wrapped up in the day to day business challenges. Most of their day is spent in the workplace and during that time they spend more of their day engaging with computers, smartphones and tablets than they do with people. This can often leave people feeling quite isolated. So taking a quick break can help teams bond together, they can relieve stress and act as a great morale boost.”

Aramark has also opened a Grow It Yourself garden at its headquarters in Northern Cross encouraging employees to work together to nurture the garden and to use it as a wellness location for teams to take a break. A dedicated one-kilometre wellness track will also be officially opened at the company’s headquarters, and employees are being encouraged to get outside for a walk, jog or light activity during the day.

For those who wish to host their own #TAKE15 event, there are a number of ways to get involved with the campaign, visit for more information. All funds raised through the #TAKE15 events will go towards Aramark’s nominated charities for 2015 which include GIY (Grow it Yourself), UNICEF and Irish Autism Action.
