BIC, the worldwide leader in branded pocket lighters, has commissioned a survey on the changing social habits of Irish consumers, which found that 75% of Irish socialisers still favour the old fashioned chat-up line when looking for romance.
The research, which coincides with BIC's ‘Sparking Conversations’ campaign found that offering someone a light is regarded as the best way of sparking conversation, with a massive 88% or respondents favouring this as an ice-breaker.
When asked what their favourite chat-up line to use was, 30% of respondents highlighted the old reliable ‘Do you need a light?’ as their preferred conversation starter, while 45% felt ‘Are you well? ‘Cause you’re looking well!’ was the worst line in the book.
